Mentor

This isn’t about me this is about you. If you have committed to this career (at least for now) as far as joining the APMP, it’s likely you will want to work out how to progress, in what direction and to balance all the other things that life throws at you besides work. That’s what mentors help you to navigate. We won’t be prescriptive but bring wisdom, experience and empathy to facilitate your own journey of self-discovery.

I followed my dad’s love of science with a Physics degree in Scotland resulting in my building lasers in the Midlands but became increasingly aware that ‘hard’ subjects (with well-defined edges) were actually less challenging than ‘soft’ (fuzzy and ambiguous) subjects you need to master to engage with fellow humans.

Hence I ended up buying laser parts, selling whole lasers then bidding into any and every sector that needed telecommunications solutions. I have had line-management experience; virtual team management experience; coaching (business and Rugby players) experience and, oh yes, I am a parent so have built us some skills and perspectives that seem to be useful to Bidders at various career stages. Hopefully I can help but this is about you.
