Mentor

I began working in bids in 2015 after graduating with a degree in Economics from Newcastle University. Since then, I’ve managed countless public and private sector bids related to various built environment projects, including on behalf of a tier 1 construction contractor.

I currently oversee the bidding function of a company which offers a unique type of electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Amongst many other things, my role has so far included implementing a new end-to-end bid management process from scratch and helping to improve wider business development activities.

I was introduced to APMP early on in my career and became a member in 2016. I’ve enjoyed attending a number of conferences and obtaining my Practitioner level certification but I wanted to give something back – given I enjoy helping others to develop, and the number of times I’ve heard the phrase “I fell into bidding” (which is also true in my case), mentoring felt like the most appropriate option. Whilst I’ve been fortunate to work alongside some supportive and knowledgeable colleagues, I know I would have benefited from talking to an independent mentor in the earliest stage of my career, so hopefully I can fill that gap for others through this scheme!
